Our Media Center is a busy and dynamic place!  We provide a stimulating and inviting locale for students to find that "just right" book.  We also provide resources for teachers and staff.  The collection totals over 28,000 items, including videos and audiovisual equipment.

Spectacular wall art depicts familiar stories and echoes Northwood's "Reaching for the Stars" theme.  A red biplane Explorer mascot hangs from the ceiling.  Inspirational background music sets a calming tone.

The Media Center is also a classroom, where we provide lessons in information literacy, reading and language arts skills, and literature appreciation.  Our story corner is the site for cozy readaloud sessions, dramatic play, alphabetical order skills, and more with our K-1 students.  Our mascot LiBEARy bear provides friendly supervision!

Northwood's Media Center circulates an average of 300 items per day.  MANY parent volunteers lend a hand at the checkout desk and shelving and repairing books.  We are always grateful for every offer of help.

Fifth graders can apply to be on the MASH team (Media Assistant Special Helpers).  MASH team members check out books in the morning before school and help out during the day as time allows.  You will recognize them by their distinctive MASH team baseball caps.
